A Poem About Remembering God's Presence

NOTE: This is an old poem. I wrote it back in my college days for a class assignment. At that time, I was really weary from the college journey and longing for it to be over. Just wanted to clarify before you read this piece….enjoy!

Riding in the passenger seat 
My mind’s foggy as the towering sky
On a gloomy afternoon.

I turn the music up loud on my phone
So it sways swiftly through my earphones
Lifting my eyelids that are pulled by the
day’s 
        
                       long 
              

                                                            toll. 

It feels as though I’ve been on this journey forever
I long for the day to be free
 I’m so close to embracing it 
But so far away for me to grab hold.

My eyes move towards the sky
As a grey blanket of darkness 
Looms over me.
The sun pushes its rays through the clouds
Stretching to the ground below 
And gives a glimpse of the glorious beauty hidden underneath. 
A sky as clear and blue as the ocean
Sprinkled with puffs of whiteness in just the right places. 

Such a beautiful sight! 
A smile slowly comes across my lips 
As I witness God’s awesome strength
Making its way through the darkness.

This journey has been a long one
But I can reach the finish line 
God’s love shining in the sky shows me 
That no matter how cluttered or far my path is 
He will take me by the hand and see me through.
